He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and in awe of God 9 you ignore him. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and palms 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
