Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
