The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The All-merciful 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created the human 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
