The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
44 verses, revealed in Mecca after Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah) before The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
A beseecher besought the visitation of chastisement, 1 Upon the disbelievers the punishment that none can avert. 2 No one can defend him against God, the Lord of the exalted positions. 3 On that Day (of Judgment), long as fifty thousand years, the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him. 4 So be thou patient with a sweet patience; 5 They think that it (the Day of Judgment) is far away. 6 And We see it nigh. 7 On that Day the heaven shall become like molten copper, 8 And the hills will be light as wool. 9 And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, 10 Though within sight of one another. The sinner would like to ransom himself from the torment of that Day by offering his sons, 11 And his wife and his brother 12 And the family in which he was. 13 and all the people of the earth, if that could deliver him. 14 No, in truth, it is a Furnace! 15 A fire that melts the hide. 16 calling him who drew back and turned away, 17 and amassed (riches) and hoarded. 18 ۞ Surely man is greedy by nature. 19 Irritable (discontented) when evil touches him; 20 And niggardly when good befalls him 21 Except those who establish prayer. 22 who are steadfast in prayer; 23 who, from their wealth is a known right 24 For the beggar and the destitute; 25 And those who believe in the Day of Recompense, 26 And those who fear the punishment of their Lord, -- 27 surely the chastisement of their Lord is a thing none can feel secure from 28 and who are mindful of their chastity, 29 Except in the case of their wives or those whom their right hands possess-- for these surely are not to be blamed, 30 And whosoever seeketh beyond that, then it is those who are the trespassers 31 and those who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges; 32 And those who are in their testimonies upright 33 And those who guard (the sacredness) of their worship;- 34 all these shall live honourably in the Gardens. 35

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
