He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olives and palms 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
