Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
