He it is Who sendeth down water from the sky, whence ye have drink, and whence are trees on which ye send your beasts to pasture. 10 He groweth for you thereby the corn and olives and date-palms and grapes and all kinds of fruit. Verily therein is a sign for a people who ponder. 11 And He subjected the night and the day for you – and the sun and the moon; and the stars are subjected to His command; indeed in this are signs for people of intellect. 12 On the earth He has fashioned for you objects of various hues: there is certainly a sign in that for people who pay heed. 13 And He it is who has made the sea subservient [to His laws,] so that you might eat fresh meat from it, and take from it gems which you may wear. And on that [very sea] one sees ships ploughing through the waves, so that you might [be able to] go forth in quest of some of His bounty, and thus have cause to be grateful [to Him]. 14 And He hath cast on the earth firm mountains lest it move away with you, and rivers and paths that haply ye may be directed. 15 And also landmarks; and by the stars they are guided. 16 So, could one who creates be like one who cannot? Will you not then contemplate? 17 If ye would count up the favours of Allah, never would ye be able to number them: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 18 and God knows all that you keep secret as well as all that you bring into the open. 19 And those whom they worship other than Allah, do not create anything but are themselves created. 20 They are not living but are dead. They can not know when they will be raised. 21
