And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you call?" 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 "The One Who created me, so He will guide me." 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "And forgive my father - he is indeed astray." 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And all the armies of Iblis. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
