The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
