The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
