Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection, 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 even though he may veil himself in excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded) 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
