Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 But when your Lord said to the angels: "I am verily going to create a human being from fermented clay dried tingling hard; 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?" 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast. 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 Said he, 'My Lord, for Thy perverting me I shall deck all fair to them in the earth, and I shall pervert them, all together, 39 [all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!" 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 “Indeed you do not have any power over My bondmen, except those wanderers who follow you.” (The devil is unsuccessful in tempting Allah’s chosen bondmen to commit sin.) 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
