Samood gave the lie to the apostles 141 When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear God? 142 Truly, I am a trustworthy messenger for you, 143 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 144 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds: 145 (Do you think) you will be left secure here 146 in the midst of gardens and fountains, 147 farms, and palm-trees in thick groves, 148 and that you will [always be able to] hew dwellings out of the mountains with [the same] great skill?" 149 Fear Allah and obey me 150 and do not follow the biddings of those that go to excesses 151 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' 152 They said: You are only of the deluded ones; 153 You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful." 154 He said: yonder is a she-camel; to her a drink, and to you a drink, each on a day known. 155 Do not molest her lest the chastisement of an Awesome Day should seize you." 156 But they killed her, and then they became regretful. 157 So the retribution came on them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 158 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 159
