The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
