The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the mount 1 and the Book inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
