The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
