The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
