The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
