Hast thou received the story of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 They entered to him and said: 'Peace' And he replied: 'Peace, you are people unknown to me' 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his hosts and cast them into the sea. Indeed, he was blameworthy. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 Which turned everything it touched to ashes. 42 And in Thamud's also was a lesson, when it was said unto them: enjoy yourselves for a season. 43 Then they turned in disdain from the commandment of their Lord, and the thunderbolt took them and they themselves beholding 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
