The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 arise and warn, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And your garments purify! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
