Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 Then those (ships) that glide easily, 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 They but destroy themselves, they who are given to guessing at what they cannot ascertain 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 sleeping little in the night-time, 17 And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness. 18 In whose wealth the suppliant and the deprived had a share. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
