The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
