The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 where then are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
