The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the sky full of great constellations, 1 And the promised day, 2 and by the witness and what is witnessed: 3 (Self-)destroyed were the owners of the ditch 4 with fire abounding in fuel, 5 When they were sitting at its edge. 6 And they witnessed what they were doing against the believers (i.e. burning them). 7 And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy, 8 Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is a Witness of all things. 9 Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning. 10 But those who believe and do good deeds shall be rewarded with gardens watered by flowing rivers. That is the supreme triumph. 11 Surely thy Lord's assault is terrible. 12 Surely He it is Who originates and reproduces, 13 And He is the Fogiving, the Loving, 14 in sublime almightiness enthroned, 15 Performer of what He desires. 16 Has the story reached thee, of the forces- 17 Of Pharaoh and the Thamud? 18 And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)! 19 And Allah encompasses them on every side. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 written on a preserved Tablet. 22
