The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
