Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains how they have been established? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
