The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
