Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ta-Sin-Mim [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings] 1 These are the verses of the Clear Book. 2 We shall narrate to you the true tidings of Moosa and Firaun, for the people who have faith. 3 Truly Pharaoh elated himself in the land and broke up its people into sections, depressing a small group among them: their sons he slew, but he kept alive their females: for he was indeed a maker of mischief. 4 And We desired that We should be gracious unto those who were weakened in the land, and We should make them leaders and We should make them the inheritors. 5 give them power in the land and make the Pharaoh, Haman (his Minister), and their armies to experience from their victims what they feared most. 6 We inspired Moses' mother saying, "Breast-feed your son. When you become afraid for his life, throw him into the sea. Do not be afraid or grieved for We shall return him to you and make him a Messenger." 7 Then he was picked up by the family of Pharaoh (unaware) that he would become their enemy and a cause for regret. Surely the Pharaoh, Haman and their hordes were habitual sinners. 8 The wife of Pharaoh said: "Here is a delight of the eye to me and to you. Do not kill him. Maybe he will prove useful for us, or we may adopt him as a son." They were unaware of the end of it all. 9 And the heart of the mother of Moses became void, and she would have betrayed him if We had not fortified her heart, that she might be of the believers. 10 She told the sister of Moses: "Follow him." So she kept watch over him unperceived (by the enemies). 11 ۞ And We had already forbidden (other) foster suckling mothers for him, until she (his sister came up and) said: "Shall I direct you to a household who will rear him for you, and sincerely they will look after him in a good manner?" 12 Thus We restored him to his mother, so that she might be comforted and not grieve any more, and so that she would know that God's promise was true. But most of them do not realize this. 13
