The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
