In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 A half of it or a little less 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 Verily there is for thee by day occupation prolonged. 7 But recite the name of your Lord withdrawing yourself from everything, devoting yourself exclusively to Him. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 We have sent to you, (O men!) a messenger, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 If you persist in disbelieving, how will you guard yourself against the (woe of the) Day that will turn children grey-haired, 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
