The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be condemned! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
