The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
