So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
