Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain; 3 Then separate them, one from another, 4 by those who bring down the reminder, 5 to excuse some and warn others: 6 that which you have been promised shall be fulfilled. 7 When the stars shall be extinguished, 8 and the sky is rent asunder, 9 The mountains reduced to dust and blown away, 10 And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time, 11 to what day shall they be deferred? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Decision? 14 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 15 Destroyed We not the former folk, 16 We will now cause the later ones to follow them: 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed, 21 For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? 22 For We do determine (according to need); for We are the best to determine (things). 23 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected the revelations of God! 24 Did We not make the earth a storehouse? 25 For the living and the dead among you? 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and given you fresh water to drink? 27 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 28 [They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny. 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame 31 Indeed, it throws sparks [as huge] as a fortress, 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 34 This is a day wherein they speak not, 35 nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 37 That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! 38 So if you have a plan, then plan against Me. 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
