The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
