The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
