Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 no loyal friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
