۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 Are we not then to die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
