The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
