The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
