Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, 1 Which guides to the right path; and we have come to believe in it, and will not associate any one with our Lord. 2 And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: 3 And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. 4 And that we thought that men and jinn did not utter a lie against Allah: 5 Yet [it has always happened] that certain kinds of humans would seek refuge with certain kinds of [such] invisible forces: but these only increased their confusion 6 so much so that they came to think, as you [once] thought, that God would never [again] send forth anyone [as His apostle]. 7 And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. 8 There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. 9 ‘And we do not know whether harm is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends goodness for them.’ 10 Some of us are righteous, while others are not; we follow divergent paths. 11 'And we think that we cannot escape (from the punishment of) Allah in the earth, nor can we escape (from the punishment) by flight. 12 Hence, as soon as we heard this [call to His] guidance, we came to believe in it: and he who believes in his Sustainer need never have fear of loss or injustice. 13 And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allah], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim - those have sought out the right course. 14 But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.' 15 If they had followed the Path We would give to them abundant water to drink, 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 "And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not any one along with Allah; 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
