The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
