The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
