And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 Does he promise you that after you die and become dust and bones you will be brought back to life again? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 He said: "O my Lord! Help me because they deny me." 39 Answered (the Lord): "They shall wake up repenting soon." 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 no community can advance or postpone its appointed time, 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Then We sent Musa and his brother Haroun, with Our communications and a clear authority, 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 So they said: shall we believe in two human beings like unto us, while their nation are to us slaves? 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a miracle and settled them on a high land, quite secure and watered by a spring. 50
