Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The true event! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a lofty garden, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 and neither known this my account! 26 Would it had been the end! 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 and no food except pus 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
