Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection, 1 And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). 2 Does man think We shall not put his bones together? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 So, when the sight shall be dazed, 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 Indeed, man shall be a witness against himself, 14 Even if he presents his excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
