HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 and that man shall have only that for which he strives; 39 And that his striving shall soon be seen- 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 From a drop of semen when emitted; 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 He (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) is a Herald of Warning, like the former Heralds of Warning. 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 So prostrate yourselves before God and worship him. ۩ 62
