The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
