He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyous 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and covered by darkness. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
