The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 Not at all but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
True are the words of God the Almighty.
